The obligation

One firm. Eight Core Functions. A few people.

Since April 2017, the SFC has asked every licensed firm to name one person in charge of each of eight Core Functions. That person answers to the board and to the SFC.

The gap
Your managers know the job. They just do not have the tools.

A small firm cannot hire eight specialists, or buy the systems a big bank uses. So a few people do every job, with spreadsheets and checks by hand. TAC gives them the tools.

Technology

System Intelligence

1Intelligence Framework

Our intelligence framework reads statements, agreements and term sheets, including scanned PDFs and turns them into analytical data.

2Rules decide

Pass or fail is decided by written rules, not by a large language model. The same input always gives the same result.

3The null test

Every read is checked against a second, independent number, such as the total printed on the statement. If the two do not cancel to zero, the file is held.

4People sign

A qualified person reviews every exception. Your principals keep the final sign-off.

Each firm gets its own server and its own database. We never mix your data with anyone else's.

We do not use your data to train any model.

Your data stays in Hong Kong, or in your own cloud account if you prefer.

We also shape the service to fit how your firm works, not the other way round.

How it works

Every source and data point checked and verified

An External Asset Manager never holds client money. The data sits with the banks, the product issuers and in client emails. TAC pulls it all into one place and checks it before anyone uses it.

Step 1Sources

Banks, product issuers and client emails.

Step 2Atlas database

Everything sorted into one place.

Step 3The framework

Our rules and engines, built over ten years of running asset managers' operations.

Step 4The check

Every transaction is checked. Anything odd goes to a person.

Step 5Outputs

Management reports, regulatory filings and audit logs.

Step 6Human monitoring

Our people review the results. Your principals sign off.

Custodians

Tried and Tested Against Real Statements.

We read PDF, CSV and XML statements from these banks and brokers. A new bank needs one new reader, tested the same way as the rest.

Assurance

We sell assurance, not software.

Software+People=Assurance

Software checks every transaction the same way, every time. Experienced people bring judgment. Together, your firm is ready for an audit on any day.

Every transaction checked

We check every trade, not a sample. Nothing gets through unchecked.

A named, qualified team

Compliance and operations people who have done this job inside licensed firms.

Built on the SFC's rules

Every check links to the SFC's Internal Control Guidelines, so the regulator can trust the result.

You keep the sign-off

We do the work and stand behind it. Your principals still give the final sign-off.

Insights

Regulatory Pulse

A monthly digest of circulars, consultations and enforcement notes published by the SFC and highlights for an SFC-licensed firm. Written by the compliance team, not by a model.

The founder

Why I built TAC.

Many moons ago, I was a COO. My week went on chasing service providers: an administrator here, a software vendor there, a consultant for the bits in between.

Each one sold me the service they wanted to sell. Not the service I needed. Every contract fitted their roadmap, their pricing and their investors. My firm had to bend to fit them.

So I built the opposite. TAC fits around your firm: your banks, your rules, your way of working. It answers to its clients, not to a sales target or an investor deck.
